NDSU Foundation Seed Names New Assistant Director

Joyana Baumann has been named assistant director of the NDSU Foundation Seed Program, effective January 28. Joyana has an excellent academic record including a BS from the University of Minnesota – Crookston and an MBA from NDSU in 2017. She has research experience with two multinational seed companies before beginning her career with NDSU Foundation Seed as a research specialist in 2011. Joyana has made excellent contributions to the production and maintenance of pure seed stocks and managed purification responsibilities for several new lines this past summer, working cooperatively with REC staff and breeders. She has adapted computer technology to improve the efficiency of our program; managed the distribution USDA sunflower germplasm; coordinated Wheat Quality Council regional testing; created promotional and educational materials including new variety brochures and fact sheets. We look forward to working with Joyana in her new role at Foundation Seed.
