2008 Southern Region Meeting

Palm Beach Gardens, Florida

April 22-24, 2008

The 2008 AOSCA Southern Region Meeting will be held at the DoubleTree Hotel at Palm Beach Gardens, FL on April 23-24, 2008.  Jim Bostick, Executive Vice-President, and the Southern Seed Certification Association and Alabama Crop Improvement Association are your hosts.

The hotel is located near West Palm Beach which is your airport of choice (PBI).  Hotel reservations may be made utilizing the enclosed link ~ DoubleTree Hotel or by phoning the hotel at 561/622-2260.  Mention "Southern Region Meeting AOSCA" to obtain the guaranteed rate of $119 + tax/night.  Reservation cutoff date is Monday, 
March 24th.

The meeting begins at 7:00am on the 23rd with a trip to the Bell Glade Experimental Station for a turfgrass training session led by Dr. Earl Elsner.  A field training session will be held in the afternoon at the Avon Park Turf Farm.  The business meeting will be held on April 24th, adjourning by 5:00pm.  Additional information will be offered as it becomes available.

An optional tour with the Florida Sod Growers Association may be offered on the 25th.  It would be held in Ft. Pierce, FL, approximately 55 minutes north of Palm Beach Gardens.  The tour would include an on-farm trade show and a demonstration test site for a federally funded project exploring soil fumigant options to methyl bromide.  Please contact Jim Bostick by March 15th if you are interested.
