Employment Opportunities
Sep 8, 2008
Fargo, ND
The NDSU Foundation Seedstocks is
seeking a new Assistant Director.
The position is stationed in
Fargo, ND on the NDSU campus.
The NDSU Foundation Seedstocks project is a financially sound self-supporting
unit of the Plant Sciences Department and it is possibly the largest in the US
with about 14 crops and 100 varieties maintained on over 5,000 acres of foundation production each year. Most production is managed by personnel and facilities at five regional Research and Extension Centers. We are
adding two new breeding programs (canola and pluse crops) and anticipate moving back into winter wheat breeding in the near future. ND is the #1 US producer of about 10 crops.
Interaction with administration, plant breeding teams and seed producers
(etc.) is excellent.
Fargo is a terrific town with an area population (Fargo, West Fargo and Moorhead, MN)
of about 150,000 and it is blessed with an extremely low crime rate, excellent schools
(3 major Universities) and lots of cultural events. It's like living in two worlds with
summer being very green and pleasant temperatures (had 5 days this summer when
it hit 90 or above) and winter which is white with snow cover that doesn't melt and get sloppy (free ice skating rinks at probably every elementary school complete with
warming houses). An outdoor enthusiast dream with excellent hunting and fishing
not to mention recreational activities.
Position information and application procedures are available at the
North
Dakota State University career site. Screenings begin Sep
15, 2008.

Director, NDSU Foundation Seedstocks for further information.
