2009 AOSCA ANNUAL
MEETING
PORTLAND, OREGON
JUNE 28 - JULY 1, 2009
Hosted by the
Oregon Seed Certification Service

FORE ~~
It's Time to Play Golf!

Golf
Fans! Arrangements for the golf outings have been finalized ...
that's right, this year
TWO
will be offered!
The
customary pre-meeting event will be held Sunday morning, June 28th.
This year, in lieu of the Ward Marshal Tournament, we are
offering a fun, non-competitive outing that everyone can enjoy. This
year's tournament will primarily be a team, four-ball event. Each
player will play their own ball throughout, from their usual set of
tees, with an overall team score calculated at the end. The Ward
Marshall plaque will take a rest this year but for those needing the
juice of competition (and having an official handicap) there will be a
tournament-within-the-tournament for low net. Prizes will be given for
team, low net, and tournament events.
Sunday’s
event takes place on The Great Blue Course of the Heron Lakes Golf
Club (designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.).
The Great Blue has been rated for years as the most
difficult course in the Portland Area. It is a links style course with
water, tall rough, narrow fairways, and sand everywhere. Most fairways
on the Great Blue narrow to small greens that roll and pitch in
several directions. The
per-player registration fee is $85 and covers transportation, greens
fee, cart, range balls, event prizes, and tee gifts.
Rental sets are available for $25-30.
Proper golf attire and spikes are required.
Great
Blue Course #18
For
those of you not planning to go on the scheduled tour that ends at the
Museum featuring the Spruce Goose exhibit, Monday’s golf outing is
offered at the Persimmon
Country Club. The
per-player registration fee is $55 and covers transportation, greens
fee, and cart.
Rental sets may be available for an additional fee; the fee is
unknown at this time but will probably be comparable to
Heron
Lakes
’ fee.
Proper golf attire and soft spikes are required.

Golf registration is now included on the Annual
Meeting registration form. Please
notify the AOSCA office of your potential intention (not a firm
commitment!) to participate in either or both of the outings on or
before Monday, April 20, 2009.
Please contact the AOSCA
office if you have questions.
